School Project: Saturn

Posted by: | September 21, 2013 | No Comment |

This term at school my grade (5AH) has been assigned projects every week. We were given a different space topic each week and then had to make something about that topic. Some ideas were a poster, a Prezi, a power-point presentation, a booklet, a diarama ect. On the last project we had three weeks to work on it.  Usually we had only one week on each project. The topic was a single planet. So we had to choose a planet to work on. I decided to choose Saturn. There are 8 planets in the Solar System. The order goes Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

I made 7 things to do with Saturn. They are an iBook, a PhotoPeach, a diagram, a diarama, a drawing, a collage and I wrote information in my homework book about Saturn.

I have really enjoyed our Space topic this term. I have learnt heaps. To show you my learning of Saturn I will show you this PhotoPeach I made for my presentation.

Wow! Christmas is here already. I can’t believe it. I have had a great day full of excitement. Christmas is such an exciting time of the year for all children. We wake up early in the morning  and run to the lounge room/family room, and there is a room full of presents for you to unwrap.

I was very spoilt this Christmas. I received heaps of presents from family and Santa.

Here is what I got:

  • Whipple Pastry Design Studio
  • Total Girl CD
  • Moshi Monster 3D Headphones
  • One Direction CD
  • Goggles
  • Some anklets
  • Monte Carlo DVD
  • Some clothing
  • iPod Touch Cover
  • Chocolate
  • Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel (Book)

And a few more things.

On Christmas Eve we caught up with my dad’s side of the family at our house for tea.

On Christmas Day we had lunch with my mum’s side of the family at my gran and papa’s house for lunch

For these holidays I am having lots of fun. I hope to catch up with a few friends and plan some sleepovers. I also would like to visit the beach because the weather is really improving.

What did you do on Christmas?

What presents did you get?

Have you done anything exciting these holidays?

My New Competition!

Posted by: | December 13, 2012 | 6 Comments |

I am starting a new competition for my blog.  Most of my friends have competitions on their blog so I thought I should have one to. In this competition you have to guess what colour the picture is. You might think this is easy but it’s not. There’s all types of colours that look the same as others.

I am not putting the attribution on the picture because it will give away what the colour in the picture is. When I reveal what the colour is and the person/people that won, I will put in the attribution.

So here is the picture:

What do you think the colour is?

Do you think this competition is easy or hard?

My Holiday In Thailand!

Posted by: | November 22, 2012 | 24 Comments |

I have just been on a holiday in

I had heaps of fun on my holiday but I won’t tell you what I did every day or else it would be a very, very long post.

So instead I will tell you my highlights with information:

  • Swimming in the swimming pool: There were 3 big swimming pools at the Merlin Beach Resort. There was also a baby pool and a spa. My favourite swimming pool was one with a water slide.
  • Shopping in Patong: There is this enormous shopping area in Patong that sells anything you need. By the end of our holiday I had bought quite a bit from there.
  • Going on the Elephant Trek: We rode on an elephant for 1 hour. The elephant my mum and I were on was so slow. She was 59 years old. Facts: Elephants can live up to 120 years old and can drink 250 litres of water a day. The elephant we were on stopped for about 10 minutes because it was that thirsty.
  • Going on the Phi Phi Island Tour: We went on a speed boat to go to different islands around Phi Phi Island. They were so beautiful. The water was so clear. We went snorkelling and saw a lot of fish. My brother and I had to have life jackets on because it was very deep.
  • Getting my hair braided: I got my hair braided twice because the first time my braids were coming out.  The second time I chose the colours pink, purple and light blue.
  • Seeing the show FantaSea: FantaSea is a big performance in Phuket. When we saw it the stage was very big and there were heaps of people there. There is magic, elephants doing cool tricks, dancing, singing, fireworks and firecrackers. The fireworks and firecrackers were so loud.
Here is a PhotoPeach of my wonderful holiday:

Today I am going to a country called

The place in Thailand that I am going to is called Phuket. I am going with my mum, dad and brother. Thailand is part of the continent Asia. Asia is a very big continent.

I have never been to Thailand before so I am very excited. I have been to Fiji before and I hope my holiday in Thailand is as good as the holiday I had in Fiji.

Thailand is very different to Australia.

Here are some facts about Thailand:

  • Their currency is Baht.
  • The capital city of Thailand is Bangkok.
  • They speak Taiwanese
  • In 2011 the population of Thailand was 66,720,153

Halloween!

Halloween is an American celebration but some Australians celebrate it . I wouldn’t say I celebrate Halloween but I do enjoy Trick or Treating even though I have only done it once. I do it for the lollies and chocolate but I guess that’s why all the kids do it.

Last year I went Trick or Treating in my neighbourhood with my best friend Millie. We got heaps of lollies and chocolate. I am sad I didn’t get to go this year as I had to play netball and it was quite windy and looked like it was going to rain but it didn’t. We got a few knocks at the door from kids who were Trick or Treating and gave them Milky Ways.

4KJ (my class) have been doing a type of poem called Tongue Twisters. Tongue Twisters is where you choose a letter in the alphabet and then make up a few sentences. Most of the words in your sentences have to start with the letter that you have chosen.  Usually if you say your sentences fast you usually say them differently. That’s why they are called Tongue Twisters. Click here to find a bit more about them. For my Tongue Twister I was given the letter S.

Here is my Tongue Twister:

Sally’s sister Sophie was silly sometimes. Sally’s sunflowers are sunny from the sun so she called her sunflowers sunny. She went to the store to buy some more sunflowers seeds. Sally had to go to school on the school bus and struggled to get a seat but her super friend saved her a seat.

I hope you liked that. Tongue Twisters don’t really have to make sense all of the time.

Can you make up a Tongue Twister?

Do you like the idea of writing Tongue Twisters?
